Manufactured by Skruf Snus AB, Skruf Xtra Stark White is a strong variant of the classic Skruf taste. Skruf Original portion was one of the first brands of snus that I experienced, and is one of my favorite types of snus so I was curious to see how the extra strong variety would stack up.
Upon opening my can, I was greeted with the classic Skruf aroma, tobacco, rose oil, and bergamot and it smelled delicious. Once I placed a portion in my mouth, I could instantly detect the tobacco taste. After about five minutes, the tobacco flavor began to be complimented by the rose oil, which gives Skruf its characteristic taste. I also began to pick up hints of bergamot, which helped to intensify the rose oil. One of my favorite things about Skruf ES White is that it produces a nice tingle in my lip which few brands do (I suspect this may be due to the rose oil).
The portions were very dry, and this helped to make them last longer. The nicotine buzz was slow to come on, but when it did it lasted a fairly long time. However, after the fourty five minute mark I began to experience a fairly salty drip which increased until the hour mark when I removed it. The drip is very strong and left a little bit of a burning taste when I swallowed.
Overall, Skruf Xtra Stark White was a great tasting snus that produced a nice, long lasting buzz. My only real gripe with this brand was that after the hour mark it tends to get quite bitter and unpleasant tasting. I recommend ES White to those who enjoy tobacco dominant snus brands, and it pairs quite well with coffee. Its also a great replacement for regular Skruf White if that no longer gives you a nice buzz.
