Produced by Premium Tobacco for their Royal snus line, Royal White Dry Fresh Lemon is an extra dry snus with as little moisture as possible. This is to lower the total weight of the product (without removing tasty snus!), which in turn reduces the amount of taxation. Every can comes with 15 portions of regular strength snus for a total of 9.75 grams per can. For one reason or another, Lemon seems to be a fairly rare snus flavor which few brands offer. In the past I’ve reviewed Thunder Lemon and concluded that it is a flavorful and unique tasting snus, so I was certainly interested in trying Fresh Lemon to see how it stacks up!
Not long after opening my can of Fresh Lemon, I was greeted with a lemon aroma which was very natural, and it reminded me quite a bit of lemon rind. After putting in a portion and waiting a few minutes for the flavor to begin developing, I soon began to notice a dominant tangy lemon flavor which wasn’t overly sweet which I appreciated. Aside from the lemon flavor, I didn’t taste much else save for a salty tobacco taste which slowly began to develop around the hour mark.
The portion material was average, and is the same found in the rest of the Royal lineup. Due to the extreme dryness of Fresh Lemon portions, I found that the nicotine buzz generally takes around five minutes to kick in, and lasts for about half an hour before subsiding. I experienced little drip with Fresh Lemon and usually kept portions in for an hour and a half before removing them due to a decline in flavor.
As a whole, I find Royal Fresh Lemon to be a delicious and long lasting lemon flavored snus which has a great take on a citrus flavor aside from bergamot. Furthermore, thanks to the lowered overall weight, Fresh Lemon can be an enjoyable and affordable option for those who live in countries in which snus is taxed by weight. With lemon being a rare flavor, I highly recommend trying out Royal Fresh Lemon Dry if you’re a citrus fan who finds the nicotine kick of Thunder Lemon to be a bit much. Finally, I find that Fresh Lemon pairs especially well with a lemon drop cocktail while welcoming in the Summer 2016 season!
