Developed by AG Snus, Red Devil is an original portion snus brand which is said to be flavored in a traditional style. Every can of Red Devil contains 21.6 grams of snus, with 8mg of nicotine per portion. Red Devil is part of Ag’s Ink lineup of snus, which also consists of Black Rock, a lakrits (licorice) flavored snus.
Upon opening my can of Red Devil, I immediately noticed a strong citrus aroma of bergamot and lemons as well as a tobacco aroma. I was also able to detect a slight peppery note which I feel added variety to the aroma. Once I placed a portion in my mouth, I soon tasted a strong tobacco taste which was only slightly stronger than the taste of citrus and was quite nice. After about five minutes I began to notice that the tobacco taste was being complimented by a peppery taste. The flavor reminded me quite a bit of General snus, except with a milder tobacco taste and a peppery flair. Over time the flavor became milder, and the tobacco taste became more present. Unlike some brands of Skruf, Red Devil wasn’t overly salty
The portion material was of average quality, and the portions were quite large and loosely packed. The moisture level was medium, so I began to feel a nicotine kick quite rapidly after putting in my portion. I was impressed at the lack of drip for an original portion snus, and I was able to keep my portion in almost an hour before I began to notice drip.
Overall, I found that Red Devil was a surprisingly good tasting snus. The tobacco flavor, complimented by citrus and hints of pepper created an interesting taste experience. I highly recommend this snus to those who enjoy the taste of General Original but are looking for some variety. Red Devil pairs well with coffee as well as strong belgian beer.
