Manufactured by Cheyenne International, Nordic Ice Wild Cherry is a snus aimed at American consumers and is part of several brands within the Nordic Ice lineup (in a previous article I reviewed Original Wintergreen). Every can of Wild Cherry has 24 regular strength portions for a total of 7.09 grams (with just about 0.3g of snus per portion). Having never tried a cherry flavored snus before, I was curious to see what Wild Cherry would taste like!
The aroma from my freshly open can of Wild Cherry was fairly underwhelming. I could detect slight notes of cherry with overtones of salty tobacco. After placing a portion in my mouth, it took a few minutes before I started to notice a hint of cherry, but it wasn’t nearly as flavorful as what I’m used to from more traditional Swedish Snus brands. The cherry taste began to drop off as soon as the ten minute mark, and around the twenty minute mark all that remained was a very faint taste of salty tobacco.
The portion material was average quality, and I didn’t experience much drip at all. However, I did find the portions to be a little bit too dry, and they produced a very mild (and short lasting buzz) compared to other brands. I usually took them out after about thirty minutes due to a drop off in flavor. I also found that their size was small, which likely contributes to the lack of flavor and nicotine strength.
Overall, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Wild Cherry. I found both the flavor and nicotine level to be quite weak, and the portions were too small to be satisfying. Rather than try Wild Cherry, I instead recommend taking a look of some of my other snus reviews and finding another fruit flavored snus which suits your tastes instead! However, if you do happen to have a few cans of Wild Cherry I find pairing it with a hoppy IPA beer makes for a pleasant combination.
