Produced by the tobacco manufacturer Cheyenne International and geared towards American markets, Nordic Ice Original Wintergreen is an average strength snus with a wintergreen flavor. Each can comes with 24 average strength portions per can with a net weight of 7.09 grams. As a fan of other wintergreen flavored snus brands (such as General Wintergreen and Jakobsson’s Wintergreen), I had high hopes for the Nordic Ice brand.
Upon opening my can, I was greeted with a faint smell of wintergreen, combined with a little bit of herbal tobacco. The wintergreen aroma was much less potent than other brands, and after I placed a portion in I hardly noticed the flavor at all. From what I could tell though, the wintergreen did have a natural taste to it (unlike many American mint brands which tend to be overly sweet). After the ten minute mark, all I could taste was a slight hint of salty tobacco, and I didn’t find it very enjoyable as it didn’t really develop or reveal any interesting character as time passed. As a result of this lack of flavor, I generally removed portions around the twenty five minute mark.
The portions were just a tad moist, and they were also quite small (in fact they were only a little bit larger than a mini portion!). They fit comfortably in my mouth and I experienced little drip until past the hour mark (the few times I did leave a Nordic Ice portion in that long). The portions were also fairly weak in terms of nicotine content, and I only got a mild buzz lasting for about fifteen minutes from them.
Overall, I didn’t really enjoy Nordic Ice Original Wintergreen very much. The subdued wintergreen flavor combined with the mild buzz left me with a lot to be desired. Furthermore, the can lacks space for used portions (which is quite handy to have while you’re on the go). If you’re looking for a good wintergreen brand to try, I recommend either Jakobsson’s, General’s or Offroad Wintergreen instead!
