Produced by Skruf Snus AB, Nord66 is the newest addition to the Nord66 lineup (which consists of Nordic Breeze, Strong White, Xtra Strong, and Southern Storm). Each can of Cold Blast comes with 22 grams of strong snus, and on the back of the can it states that Cold Blast has a “triple mint taste”. Although I’m not a huge fan of mint snuses, I do love menthol so I was curious to see how it would compare to other brands out there.
After I got my can open, I immediately noticed a strong melange of minty flavors pop out. I could definitely pick up hints of spearmint, menthol, and peppermint. Placing a portion in my mouth, I soon began to pick up on the spearmint as well as a tad of peppermint in the background. Unfortunately the menthol taste wasn’t very strong compared to Blue Ocean (which I enjoy as a menthol fan), but unlike some mint snuses, Cold Blast has a very natural mint taste which isn’t overly sweet. I didn’t taste much tobacco, and as time progressed the mint flavors became increasingly subtle until I could hardly taste them after the forty minute mark.
The portions were made of regular material, and it was the same type used for the rest of the Skruf brand. They came fairly moist, and as I result I began feeling a pleasant nicotine buzz begin to take hold only a minute after popping in a portion. I didn’t experience much drip until about the one hour mark then, and it was still slightly sweet with only mild hints of tobacco present.
For someone who isn’t a fan of mint flavored snuses, Cold Blast definitely grew on me as I finished my can. Although the menthol taste is not nearly as strong as I’d like, the combination of mint flavors is balanced and definitely well thought out. I enjoy using cold blast as a refreshing after meal treat, especially in the evenings when I’m looking for something strong to enjoy. If you’re a fan of mint flavored snuses with a good nicotine kick, I definitely recommend giving Cold Blast a try!
