Launched just last month by Swedish Match, Mustang is a newly developed snus which boasts a plumper pouch and a pronounced tobacco flavor. According to Swedish Match, Mustang Vit has “a mellow and spicy tobacco taste with distinct notes of bergamot, tea and white flowers.” Every can of Mustang Vit comes with 0.8 grams of strong snus (12mg of nicotine) with a total of 19.2 grams per can.
Not long after opening my can of Mustang Vit, I soon noticed a mild tobacco aroma which was a cross between floral and grassy. The tobacco was complimented by hints of bergamot and just a touch of tea (mainly black from what I could tell). After trying a few portions out, I noticed that the flavor reminded a little bit of a milder version of General Snus with a floral twist. At first I tasted slight hints of herbal tobacco and fruit (mainly bergamot, but there’s also a hint of something else that I can’t quite put my finger on), but around the fifteen minute mark the tobacco began to develop more, and I noticed a floral taste began to take hold around the twenty five minute mark. Portions became increasingly salty as time went on, and I usually removed them after about an hour.
The portions were slightly thicker than most products on the market, and they’re also pretty soft compared to Mustang Original’s. They were fairly dry, and I usually began to feel a strong nicotine buzz start to set in around the five minute mark, lasting for about twenty five minutes. I didn’t experience much drip with Vit, even around the one hour mark. One thing that I did find strange was that whereas Mustang Original has one gram of snus per portion, Mustang Vit only has 0.8 (I’m not quite sure why).
As a whole, I enjoyed Mustang Vit quite a lot as a tobacco dominant daily rotation snus. Its flavor is quite mild yet long lasting, and the dryness of the portions made it easy to drink without having to remove them. I recommend trying Mustang Vit if you’re a fan of milder tobacco snuses and are looking for something you can use often without growing tired of. In my experience, Mustang Vit pairs quite well with teas as well as hoppy IPAs!
