Manufactured by Gotlandssnus AB, Jakobsson’s Icefruit is a snus which has a taste of fruit and refreshing mint. Each can contains 20 grams of snus with 9mg/g of nicotine per portion.
Upon opening my can of Icefruit, the first thing that I noticed was the strong minty smell, which reminded me of spearmint with just a hint of peppermint. Aside from the dominant mint aroma, I was also to pick up a few berry notes; a mix of raspberries and blueberries. Overall, the aroma reminded me a lot of Juicyfruit gum, and it was very nice.
After using a few portions, I began to notice that Icefruit started out with a dominant spearmint taste, with undertones of berries. I was able to pick up hints of blueberry, raspberry, and possibly even a pinch of blackberry, and they began to fade at the twenty minute mark. Prior to using portions, I kept my can refrigerated, and this produces a cooling effect which helps to compliment the cool mint taste. Over time, I slowly began to taste a slight tobacco taste which began to overtake the mint around the fifty minute mark.
The portions were the standard type used by all Gotlandssnus brands, and they were moderately comfortable and just a little moist. I didn’t experience much drip, and removed my portion after about an hour after I could hardly taste any mint. I did notice a fairly strong nicotine buzz come on after about six minutes, and it lasted for about twenty-five minutes.
Overall, I really enjoyed Jakobsson’s Icefruit, even though I’m not usually a big fan of mint. The careful blend of mint and fruit flavors is nice, and it adds some variety to my mostly tobacco dominant rotation, and the cool mint is refreshing in the summer. Icefruit is also great as a refreshing treat after a tasty dinner (in place of a mint). I also suggest storing your can Icefruit in the fridge before use in order to get the optimal taste profile!
