Released only a few months ago by Swedish Match, General XR Strong White Slim is part of a new line of General known as ‘XRANGE’. Designed to blend high quality with affordability, the XRANGE line currently consists of five products (including XR Slim White which I’ve reviewed here!), most of which have been consolidated from other lineups. Cans of XR White Strong come with 21 strong (1.35% nicotine compared to 0.85% in normal XR White) portions, each containing 0.8 grams of snus.
After I got my can open, I soon noticed a strong aroma of grassy tobacco complimented by hints of bergamot. Not long after trying a few portions, I soon began to notice that XR Strong starts off fairly mild, yet as time passes the flavor slowly develops into a salty tobacco taste which lasts for about fifty minutes before I start to lose flavor. The flavor was quite similar to the normal XR Slim, but I feel that the extra nicotine creates a stronger sensation (especially when you first put it in) which I enjoyed quit a bit. There was very little drip with XR Strong, and I generally only experienced it after the hour mark.
The portions come in a long and slim format, and they fit comfortably in my lip while producing minimal amounts of drip. Moreover, much like General Tailored (but not explicitly confirmed by Swedish Match), XR Strong White uses Natufibe portion material to ensure that your portions are always incredibly soft and comfortable. I’m a pretty big fan of Natufibe, so its quite exciting to see Swedish Match using the material in a value brand such XR Strong White. After a few minutes of putting in a portion, I began to notice a strong yet pleasant buzz which lasted for about thirty minutes before subsiding.
Overall, XR Strong White Slim is a tasty tobacco dominant snus, and I can definitely see myself swapping it in and out of my daily rotation when I’m looking for something which is tasty, packs a punch, and goes easy on the wallet! As expected, the flavor was essentially the same as XR White’s, but the added nicotine definitely gave me a strong yet enjoyable buzz which is great for relaxing. Much like its milder counterpart, I find that XR goes great with coffee and summery ales, and I highly suggest giving it a try if you enjoy tobacco flavored snuses!
