I’m a big fan of several brands of snus in the General lineup, so when a can of General Silver snus arrived at my doorstep, I was quite excited to try it out and share my thoughts. Every can of General Silver contains 24 portions, each with 6mg of nicotine per portion.
Once I opened my can, I noticed an aroma of tobacco and citrus. The smell was very pleasant, and it reminded me somewhat of General Portion, except with less of a bergamot aroma. Upon putting a portion in my mouth, I noticed a salty tobacco taste consistent with other members of the General family. The tobacco was quite mild, and it was complimented by citrus undertones. I found that the flavor produced little drip, and I only began to notice a loss in flavor after about the hour mark.
The portions were quite comfortable, and I was able to leave portions in for over an hour without experiencing any drip. As far as nicotine strength goes, I did find myself wishing that Silver had a higher nicotine content. I found 6mg to be a little weak (I normally use original and stark portions), and my experience was similar to when I use mini portions rather than full sized portions. The lower nicotine content is fine for those who enjoy mini portions, but more experienced snusers may find them to lack a significant buzz.
Overall, General Silver has a great tobacco taste complimented by a slight citrus flavor. I recommend this snus to lovers of mild tobacco flavors. However, if you’re looking for something with a big kick, then General Silver is probably not for you.
