Produced by Chickylicious AB, the Chick line of snus is geared primarily towards the expanding market of female snusers, promising a premium experience at an affordable price. Today I’ll be reviewing Polar Menthol, which is said to offer a menthol and tobacco flavored experience in a mini portion format. Each can of Polar Menthol comes with 8.8 grams of snus, and every portion contains 1.2% nicotine.
After opening my can of Polar Menthol, I soon began to notice a slight menthol aroma which was complimented by hints of mild tobacco in the background. Once I placed a portion in, I started to taste a cooling (yet mild) menthol sensation, and there were hints of eucalyptus to go along with it. Unlike Blue Ocean (another menthol flavored snus), I found that the menthol taste of Polar Menthol was much subtler, allowing me to enjoy the tobacco flavor as opposed to overpowering it. Initially the tobacco had a mellow taste, but it became stronger as the menthol flavor began to subside around the ten minute mark. Afterwards the tobacco flavor became increasingly complex and it lasted for about an hour before becoming starting to become harder to taste.
The portions come in a mini format which makes them highly discreet and they fit comfortably in my lip. As a white portion snus, Polar Menthol is quite dry and produces little drip until around the one hour mark (and even then there isn’t very much drip!). It usually took about five minutes for me to feel a nicotine buzz, and it lasted for about twenty minutes before starting to subside.
Overall, I enjoyed the taste of Chick Polar Menthol as it skillfully blends refreshing menthol with a tasty tobacco flavor. However, I did find myself wishing that there was a bit more snus in each can, so I’m hoping that Chick expands into offering regular sized portions as well. In my experience Polar Menthol works well as a refreshing after meal treat, and the dryness of the portions makes it a breeze to enjoy them with a nice summer cocktail!
