Manufactured by Tobacco Company Sweden AB, Blågul is an original portion snus with hints of citrus and pepper. Being a fan of tobacco flavored snus brands, this one seemed pretty interesting. I got myself two cans, and decided to write my thoughts on them here. Every can of Blågul Original has 19 one gram portions of snus.
Upon opening my first can, I immediately noticed an aroma of tobacco, citrus (mainly bergamot, with a hint of lemon), and a hint of spiciness. I found that the snus smelled quite strong in comparison to other brands, and when I had my can open my friend nearby was able to smell it. Once I placed a portion in my mouth, I was greeted with a tobacco dominant flavor. This flavor was soon complimented by the citrus, and the bergamot really worked to balance out the tobacco. Blågul reminded me quite a bit of General Portion, only with a stronger bergamot taste which was very interesting. The snus was very moist, and I began to notice quite a bit of drip around the 45 minute mark, and after that the portions became quite bitter tasting.
The portions themselves were extremely comfortable, and the snus inside appeared to be very finely ground, because it was easy to position the portion without needing to even it out with my finger first. For regular size portions, I felt that this was probably the most comfortable portion type I’ve used (a little more comfortable than even General Onyx’s portions!) Because of the moisture content of the portions though, I experienced quite a bit of drip after about 45 minutes.
Overall, Blågul Original was quite tasty, and I enjoyed the tobacco and bergamot flavor quite a bit. My only wish is that the manufacturers up the nicotine content just a little bit, because it feels a tad weak compared to other regular brands that I’ve tried. If the nicotine content was just a little higher, I would definitely add Blågul to my daily rotation!
