After having recently reviewed Romeo y Julieta Portion, I decided that I would continue on reviewing yet another snus made with cuban tobacco, Montecristo Portion. Manufactured by Taboca AS, Montecristo Portion is a premium snus which shares a namesake with the famous cuban variety of cigars. Each can of Montecristo Portion contains 24 one-gram portions of snus, which have 11mg of nicotine per portion.

Upon initially opening my can of Montecristo Portion, I was greeted with a pure tobacco aroma. Unlike Romeo y Julieta, there was no licorice present, only tobacco. Once I placed a portion in my mouth, I immediately detected a clear, smooth tobacco flavor which reminded me of a Montecristo cigar. As someone who really enjoys tobacco dominant snus brands, I found this flavor to be extremely pleasant. I didn’t find Montecristo to contain much salt, and as a result I found that this increased the mellow flavor of the tobacco. I was quite surprised at how long the flavor lasted, as after fourty five minutes I was still tasting the tobacco taste.

The portions were large and rich in flavor

The portion material was comfortable, and did not produce much drip at all. As a consequence, I was able to leave my portions in for over an hour without experiencing much drip at all. Although there is more nicotine than usual present in this snus, I found that the kick was rather mild in comparison to other brands. However, this didn’t bother me too much as the great flavor was what I was looking for in this snus.

Overall, I really enjoyed Montecristo Portion. Everything about this snus exudes quality, right down to the construction of the solid metal can it comes packaged in. If you’re a fan of tobacco flavored snus brands with no other flavors, then I strongly suggest giving Montecristo Portion a try!
