A brand new addition to the Skruf Slim lineup, Sun Fresh Stark joins a large family of great tasting snus brands including Slim Polar Stark, Slim Nordic White, and several other tasty brands. The can and portion designs also reminds me of the Lab Series design, so I can imagine that snus giant Swedish Match (who recently purchased Skruf) had a hand in designing it (I for one like the simplicity!). Every can of Sun Fresh Stark comes with 20.5 grams of strong snus with 24 portions per can. Sun Fresh is said to have a taste of mint and orange.
After I opened my can, I soon noticed a strong smell of pure mint with undertones of sweetness. I also noticed a tangerine aroma, but it was quite subdued in comparison to the dominant mint flavor (there was no tobacco scent present). After keeping a portion in for a few minutes, I began to notice a strong taste of sweet mint. I’m not a huge mint fan, but the taste was quite natural tasting. When I really paid attention I also noticed very slight undertones of tangerine, but it subsided quickly; being overpowered by the mint after only the ten minute mark. The mint flavor lasted for around thirty-five minutes before transitioning into a slightly salty (yet still minty) taste.
Like the rest of the Skruf Slim lineup, Sun Fresh has a slim portion format which I absolutely love. I find the slim portions to be extremely comfortable and highly discreet, while at the same time producing very little drip. The portions were quite dry, and combined with the low drip formula, I was easily able to leave portions in for over an hour before I began to notice only a slight drip, and I feel Skruf really nailed this on the head. The nicotine buzz came on slowly over five minutes, and it became quite strong and lasted for nearly thirty minutes before toning down.
Overall, I wasn’t a huge fan of Skruf Slim Sun Fresh, not because it isn’t a great snus, but simply because of my taste preferences. I’m not a huge fan of the type of mint used as flavor, and I also found the orange to be more like tangerine and was overpowered by the mint. However, I do recommend giving Sun Fresh a try if you’re a mint snus fan looking to minimize drip and supplement mint with something mild as it is a high quality snus.
