A brand new addition to the Nick & Johnny Line of snus, Captain Yankee evokes images of American patriotism. However, despite the name this snus is geared toward Norwegian rather than American tastes. Each can of N&J Captain Yankee comes with 1.1 gram portions and 22 grams of snus.
Upon opening my can, I soon detected a number of aromas including that of cinnamon, cherry, and wintergreen, which is a pretty interesting combination of flavors which I’ve never seen blended before. The aroma was definitely interesting, and I have to say that I liked it quite a bit. After popping in a portion, I soon noticed a fairly strong flavor of cherry and wintergreen, complimented by a hint of cinnamon. After the main flavors subsided, they were gradually replaced with a tobacco taste which reminded me of N&J Original Edge. After about fourty minutes I found the tobacco taste became increasingly salty, and bitter so I generally removed portions around the fifty minute mark. The portion material is the same used for the rest of the Nick & Johnny line, and it is fairly comfortable.
The portions were moist but not overly so, and due to the moistness and high nicotine strength of Captain Yankee, I started feeling a fairly strong nicotine buzz within two minutes. I was able to keep my portions of Captain Yankee in for about fourty five minutes before I began to experience drip.
Overall, I found N&J Captain Yankee to be a very interesting tasting snus. The flavor was quite unique (I’ve never had a cherry flavored snus before!) and tasty to boot. I recommend N&J Captain Yankee to those who enjoy trying something new for a change, as well as those who enjoy snuses with a high nicotine content. I enjoy using Captain Yankee as a morning snus since I find that its unique taste makes for a delicious experience in the morning!
