Produced by Fiedler & Lundgren, Lucky Strike Original Portion comes from the famous Lucky Strike product line and promises a delicious toasty tobacco taste. Each can of LS Original comes with 24 grams of original strength snus. I must say, the Lucky Strike line of snus definitely has some of my favorite can designs of all time, and the can’s rubberized metal exterior feels great to hold!
Upon opening my can of Lucky Strike Original, I was greeted with an aroma of toasted, earthy, tobacco. I couldn’t detected any additional scents, and from the smell alone it becomes evident that LS Original is a tobacco dominant blend. Upon placing a portion in my mouth, I was greeted with a tasty tobacco flavor characteristic of Lucky Strike. At first it had a strong toasted taste which slowly gave way to a salty earthy flavor. I found the salt content to create a good balance between the tobacco flavor and it helped to compliment the tobacco. The flavor lasted for about a half hour before it began to become increasingly salty and I removed my portions after about forty-five minutes.
The portions were the same type used in other types of Lucky Strike snus, and was fairly comfortable but a little rough compared to other brands out there. There was minimal drip until about the forty minute mark, and I began to experience a lot of salty drip after fifty minutes. The nicotine buzz was average strength, but it felt a tad weak to me. One thing I did like is that LS Original had 1 gram portion sizes as opposed to .75-.9 grams found in many “regular size” snus brands today.
Overall, Lucky Strike Portion is a great tasting snus for the tobacco lover. The classic toasted tobacco taste combined with just the right amount of salt produced a tasty flavor that went well with my black morning coffee. However, I did find the nicotine hit to be a little weak for me, so I prefer to stick with Lucky Strike Strong White. instead.
