Recently released on the market, Lapland original portion snus is manufactured by T and L Independent Co and comes in pouches rather than cans. Each pouch contains ten one gram portions of strong snus. Having never heard of the manufacturer before, I was curious to give Lapland a go and see how it compares to the more well known brands of snus. The outside of the package contains a brief message which states “Around here it’s appreciated just like hair gel is not. All a man needs is his snowmobile, his rifle, and his snus. Other clever suggestions? No? That’s what we thought.”
After opening my pouch, I noticed an aroma of peppery tobacco, complimented by undertones of citrus. The combination was very pleasant, and it reminded me quite a bit of General Onyx but with less bergamot and more pepper. After popping in a portion, I soon noticed a dominant taste of peppery tobacco with only a slight hint of lemon. The combination was quite tasty, and the lemon undertones lasted for about twenty minutes before subsiding. Afterwards I was left with a taste of peppery tobacco which gradually became more mild as time went on. After the fifty minute mark the flavor became increasingly subdued and I hardly noticed any flavor by the hour mark.
The portions are manufactured with standard portion material, and they fit comfortably in my upper lip. I did experience one portion come open prior to using it, but the rest were fine. They were fairly moist, and as a result I began to experience a fairly strong nicotine buzz after about three minutes. I was able to keep portions in for around an hour before I began to experience excessive drip.
Overall, I enjoyed Lapland Original Portion quite a bit, and if it came in a can format with more portions I could definitely see myself adding it to my daily rotation! I recommend giving Lapland Original a try if you enjoy tobacco dominant snus brands with a taste of traditional Swedish Snus.
