For a number of individuals living in the United States, Camel Snus is their first introduction to snus. However, little do most people know that there is another variant of Camel Snus which is manufactured outside of the United States by JTI Sweden AB (RJ Reynolds is the maker of American Camel), and is a true Swedish Snus. This review will take a look at JTI’s Swedish variant and see how it tastes. Every can of Camel Original Portion has 20.7 grams of snus, and each portion contains 8mg of nicotine per portion, making it a regular strength snus.
Once I got my can of Camel Original open, I noticed that it had a strong tobacco smell to it, with only a slight hint of bergamot. After popping a portion in, I started to noticed a mellow tobacco taste which was complimented by the bergamot. The taste was very enjoyable, and was great for times where I didn’t want something too strong. The tobacco flavor lasted for about thirty minutes and then began to subside, making the flavor increasingly mild until I could hardly taste it at the forty-five minute mark (which is when I usually removed them).
The portions were moist, and I felt they had a great moisture level which didn’t cause too much drip. I began to notice a pleasant buzz around the two minute mark, and it lasted for about twenty minutes before beginning to subside. I generally tended to keep portions in for about forty-five minutes before removing them, and even then there was little drip.
Overall, I enjoyed Camel Original Portion a lot, and I enjoy using it in my daily rotation as it isn’t overly strong and the tobacco flavor is very enjoyable. If you’ve tried American Camel snus in the past, I strongly suggest giving its Swedish counterpart a try and see what you’ve been missing out on! I also liked the classy can design and embossed logo on top, it was a nice touch which is quite classy.
