Produced by the US Smokeless Tobacco Company, Skoal Berry Blend is a fruit flavored Skoal variant with a berry taste. I was curious to give it a try as I enjoy certain kinds of fruit flavored dips (such as Kayak Peach) and have yet to try a berry flavored dip. Every can of Skoal Berry Blend comes with 34 grams of regular strength long cut dipping tobacco.
After opening my can of Berry Blend, I soon began to notice an aroma of berries as well as something which reminds me of Buckley’s grape cough syrup. The aroma definitely smelled quite artificial, and I also detected quite a bit of sweetness. Once I put in a medium sized lip, I soon tasted a melange of berries including blueberry and a hint of raspberry and they were very sweet tasting. I also noticed a bit of an artificial cough syrup taste which I found became bitter as time went on. I was also able to taste a very faint bit of tobacco once the berry flavors began to subside, but it was very weak in comparison to the fruit flavors.
The dip itself is a long cut, and the cut was the same length as the rest of Skoal’s long cut offerings. As a result, I found that I was easily able to pack a lip and I could remove my dip with few issues. My can was quite moist, and not long after packing a lip I started to notice a pleasant nicotine buzz which lasted for about twenty five minutes. However, due to Berry Blend’s sweetness I found myself salivating more than usual, and I usually removed the dip around the thirty five minute mark.
As a whole, I found that Skoal Berry Blend tasted a little bit too sweet and artificial for me, and due to its sweetness I prefer to use it in between other styles of dip to mix things up a bit rather than as a daily go to. I recommend trying Berry Blend if you’re a fan of fruit flavors in your dips, but its definitely not one one of my favorites!
