Produced by the Pinkerton Tobacco Company (a subsidiary of snus giant Swedish Match), Renegades Wintergreen Pouches is a dipping tobacco in pouch format. Every can of Renegades Wintergreen Pouches comes with 20 pouches for a total of .71 oz (20g) of dipping tobacco per can.
Soon after opening my can of Wintergreen Pouches, I began to notice a natural aroma of wintergreen combined with hints of dipping tobacco. I must say that I found the wintergreen aroma to be very appealing, and not long after popping in a pouch I began to taste a very natural and refreshing wintergreen taste. Aside from the succulent flavor, another thing that I enjoyed about the wintergreen taste was that unlike most wintergreen dipping tobacco brands, I don’t find that Renegades Wintergreen burns my lip as much which means that I can use more wintergreen pouches without needing to mix it into a daily rotation. The wintergreen taste began to diminish around the fifteen minute mark, and as time went on my pouches would become increasingly salty with hints of rich tobacco flavor, and I have to say that the transition was quite balanced and very pleasant. I usually took portions out around the half hour mark due to a drop off in flavor.
The pouches aren’t as long as other brands of pouched dipping tobacco, and more closely resembled snus pouches, just more loosely packed. As a result of the smaller size, I found myself putting the pouches in my upper lip like snus (as opposed to my lower lip), and I found them to me comfortable there. Moreover, the pouches are very moist which helps to release the flavor as soon as you pop one in. The nicotine buzz is on the weak side however, and after the first dip of the day I don’t notice much of a buzz at all with one of the portions in.
As a whole, I must say I was pretty impressed with the Renegades Wintergreen Pouches. I’m not normally a fan of dip in pouches, but Pinkerton did a good job with this one and I’ve found myself throwing a lip in at times when I need to be discreet and can’t dip loose. The only drawback is the fact that the nicotine strength is a little on the low side if you’re a seasoned dipper. If you’re a fan of wintergreen flavored dips (and don’t mind pouches), then I definitely recommend giving Renegades Wintergreen Pouches a try!
