Produced by the Pinkerton Tobacco Company (a subsidiary of snus manufacturer Swedish Match), Red Man Long Cut Wintergreen is a wintergreen flavored dip in a long cut format. I’m generally a fan of wintergreen dips, and since I’ve previously enjoyed Pinkerton’s Renegade Pouches, I was curious to see how a different style and flavor would taste. Red Man Long Cut Wintergreen comes with 1.2oz (34g) of regular strength dipping tobacco per can and has a “Fresh or Free” guarantee printed on the can which is quite nice!
Soon after opening my can, the first thing I noticed was how tightly packed the can was. I’ve had some brands of dip where there’s some air pockets at the top of the can, but both my cans of Red Man were packed tightly with dip which was quite nice! With the can open, I noticed a strong and natural wintergreen aroma as well as subtle hints of sweet tobacco in the background. Packing a medium sized lip, I soon began to taste a natural wintergreen flavor which I found to be very flavorful without producing too much of a stinging sensation. Around the fifteen minute mark the wintergreen flavor began to slowly diminish, and a sweet, slightly smoky tobacco taste began to slowly take over. As a whole I found the flavor to be very well rounded, and I usually kept lips in for around half an hour before removing them.
Red Man LC Wintergreen is a long cut, and I found that the cut was typical for a long cut and it was easy to form and remove pinches without any issues. Moreover, I found the dip to be very moist which (in addition to making pinches easy to form) helped really get the juices flowing as well as introduce a nicotine buzz within a couple minutes of throwing in a lip. I also found this dip to be very juicy due to the flavor and freshness.
As a whole, I must say that Red Man Long Cut Wintergreen is a delicious tasting dip with a pleasurable buzz to boot. I recommend Long Cut Wintergreen to those looking for a dipping tobacco with a great wintergreen flavor, and I find that it works great as an after dinner treat.
