Manufactured by the U.S Smokeless Smokeless Tobacco Company, Red Seal Wintergreen is an affordable long cut dip which boasts an extra 25% of dip per can! This works out to 1.5oz (42.53g) of dip per can, compared to the standard 1.2oz (34.02g) which most brands contain, making it an attractive option to both heavy dippers as well as those who are looking to make their cans last as long as possible!
After opening my can of Red Seal Wintergreen, I soon began to notice a natural wintergreen aroma with hints of sweet tobacco in the background. Although the wintergreen wasn’t as pungent as some brands, I found this was a plus as sometimes I find wintergreen dips to be a little too strong, especially if you plan on using it as a daily dip. Moments after I packed a lip, I began to taste the wintergreen flavor, mixed in with just a touch of sweet tobacco in the background. The wintergreen tasted very natural, and I found it had just the right intensity to get the juices flowing without having too much of a burning sensation like you sometimes get with stronger wintergreen flavors. Over time the wintergreen became increasingly mild, and it eventually gave way to a sweet and salty tobacco taste around the half hour mark (although I could still taste hints of wintergreen here and there). On average, I usually kept my pinches in for about forty-five minutes when I began to notice a steep decline in taste.
Although Red Seal Wintergreen is a long cut dip, I did find it to be slightly shorter than other long cuts I’ve tried, but I still found it very easy to both pack and keep in place. Furthermore, it was fairly easy to remove pinches when I was finished with the help of a little bit of water. The nicotine strength seemed to be average, but a stronger effect can be achieved by taking a larger than normal pinch for those times when you’re looking for a bit more oomph.
Overall, I enjoyed Red Seal Wintergreen quite a bit, and this came as a bit of a surprise since I wasn’t that big a fan of Red Seal Straight. The tasty wintergreen, combined with the extra 25% of tobacco in each can definitely makes it an attractive dip for those who are looking to maximize value while still having an enjoyable flavor. In my experience, I found that Red Seal Wintergreen tends to be especially refreshing when relaxing after a large meal!
