Manufactured by the Pinkerton Tobacco Company of Kentucky, USA, Timber Wolf Fine Cut Wintergreen is one of two styles of Timber Wolf Wintergreen dip (the other being Long Cut Wintergreen). With the exception of Copenhagen Fine Cut, I haven’t had too much experience with fine cut dips, so I was definitely eager to give Fine Cut Wintergreen as soon as I was able to obtain some! Timber Wolf Fine Cut Wintergreen comes with 1.2oz (34.02g) of fine cut dipping tobacco per can.
After opening my can, I was soon greeted with a strong wintergreen aroma. There was also hints of peppermint in the background, and I couldn’t discern any tobacco scents. Not long after taking a pinch, I began to taste a very natural tasting wintergreen flavor, as well as a tad of peppermint which I found gave it a little variety. I found Timber Wolf’s wintergreen flavor to be quite a contrast from the much sweeter Hawken Wintergreen, yet I enjoyed both of them for having different takes on the same flavor. The flavor usually lasted for a little over half an hour before I found myself taking my pinches out.
Thanks to the finer grind, Wintergreen Fine Cut has a large surface area, and this results in a stronger and faster nicotine uptake than you would get with a long cut. I find the nicotine buzz to be strong yet pleasant, and you can alter your pinch size to change the strength somewhat. However, the finer cut also makes it harder to keep pinches in without them running, so make sure you’re able to rinse out your mouth after dipping to remove any of the residual pieces.
As a whole, Timber Wolf Fine Cut Wintergreen is a great tasting dip which closely resembles its long cut counterpart in terms of taste. I would recommend Fine Cut Wintergreen to more advanced dippers who are already used to keeping pinches in and are looking for something sweet with a nice nicotine kick. In my experience, Timber Wolf Fine Cut Wintergreen works especially well as a refreshing after dinner treat!
